A #Violet Shawl – v6

She sat beside me in our car, silently,
a dark skirt, a white, hand-stitched blouse
with bright Andean characters, terra cotta dolls;
Sunlight poured through our windshield,
causing her violet shawl drink warmth into the wool
radiating color, a singular band of the spectrum,
clear, bright violet, brilliant, alive in that moment,
the outer band of the arc, the bow of God,
living color, wrapped around her shoulders,
to fight against the growing cold.

Every knee,
When history is over,
What the end has come,
Will bow before Christ.

Every knee
The word of scripture
The promise of God
Will Proclaim the Christ.

Every knee,
Not just believers,
Shall bow before,
The risen Christ.

Ten Feet Overhead – v12 #heron #GreatBlueHeron

Up ahead, to my right around the point;
Burst of squawks and beating of heavy wings
Erupted, filling the still air.

The head and then its long endless body
Rose right over the spine of my canoe
The heron blocking my vision, my view.

No more than ten feet above my transfixed eyes.
The Great Blue Heron flew toward me
Thwump, thwump …

In my spirit, my prayer,
I heard the wings pushing, breaking
early-morning-stillness around me.

The bird cupped its wings
And hovered for a moment,
Or a lifetime.

Each feather was visible -
Rust, cream, slate,
Light blue eye shadow.

I watched, transfixed, silently;
The bird flew off, majestic,
Alone, across my lake.

Christ’s victory foretold

there at the beginning

in the judgment upon them

the birth of sin in the Garden

Christ’s victory foretold

in the promise God gave them

the Enemy would be defeated

by Christ, the Chosen One

foretells virgin birth, divine and human nature of Christ

and defeat of Satan spiritually at the cross and

physical in Revelation 20:10

the promise of Jesus - 3

the promise of Jesus

in the rebellion of Adam

the victory of the Christ

the Enemy defeated

the fulfillment of all

every promise of God

starting in the Garden

in the birth of sin
