She sat beside me in the car
a dark skirt, offsetting,
a white, hand stitched
blouse,
with bright Andean
characters, dolls
alive within their threads
Sunlight poured through the
windshield
making her violet shawl
drink the light into the
wool
radiating color, luminous.
a singular band of the
spectrum
A slice of clear, bright
violet alive
the outer band of the arc,
the bow;
living color, dancing,
brilliant,
wrapped around her shoulders
against the cold.
