Don’t be impatient,
head-strong, reckless,
Abide in God’s Spirit,
God’s breath within…
 
Wait for the Lord,
don’t be anxious,
God’s timing is perfect,
His path is straight…
 
Lean on God’s promise,
to always be with you;
Cleave to the Lord,
walking where He leads you…

Life moving, inertia, momentum,
moments held like gossamer,
gently, treasure,
lest they evaporate…
 
Time fleeting, quickly,
moments, seconds,
soon to disappear…
 
Sudden, profound, changes,
profound, deep meaning,
life moving quickly, awakening,
changing in an instant…
 
Or moving like a glacier,
stuck in the mud, changing,
in the time scale of mosses…
 
Moments held like gossamer,
precious jewels, crystals,
like dry ice gently,
nestled in our hands, our hearts…
 
Opening just as quickly,
released to the ether,
a breath, never the same…

I am not a #victim - v2

I am not a victim,
I can make other choices;
I am able to change
the path I am walking.
 
I cannot change my past
my words, my steps, my choices;
but I can walk a different path,
right now, going forward...
 
Time is running out
on my life, my journey;
I must be more mindful
in my steps, my choices.
 
I only have so many steps,
so many minutes before me;
I should pursue my dreams,
my calling, my purpose,
now, this minute.

I could hear the weight – v2

I could hear the weight over my left shoulder

the logging truck coming down our Main Street;

I could hear the sound of the jake brakes catching,

slowing for the radar trap; It must be by the cemetery.

The load of hard wood, not pine or spruce -

nearby second-growth forest offering its fruits

a common occurrence, here where we live -

the sound of commerce, alive and well

17 Though the mills may be shuttered

and the forests are empty,

though the fields do not provide

their bounty, their harvest,

though the young are departing

for greener pastures,

18 yet I rejoice in my God

I will be joyful in Christ my Savior.

19 The Creator of the universe is my rock

I am like the deer, its hooves

steady on the Mountain.
