heavy baggage

heavy baggage we carry

things of this world

things of the flesh

desires of the earth

heavy baggage we don’t need

that doesn’t give us life

we need to let go

and fill our needs in Christ.

when I don’t want to get out of bed

you are there within the storm;

you are as close as breath.

Lord you comfort me

you are my only strength

I trust in You

The affirmation of the faithful
with David we stand
sharing his statement
in contrast with the others,
“I trust in you”.

Our God, our fortress
he alone will save us
protected from our enemies
raise us in glory
out of his loving grace

Your Word

Words smoother than butter
words softer than oil
sweeter than honey,
drippings of the honeycomb
So are your words, Your Word
ageless story of the creator
filling the pages of scripture
your love, your law,
your servants, your son
all these words, the one story of you
giving us guidance, comfort, hope
for this life and the one to come
wonderful beyond our words
