Up out onto the waters,

through the wilderness,

Climbing to the mountaintop

as our Savior leads

Going to spread the news

of God’s love for humanity,

Doing all we can

in every loving deed

Sharing the way

with our neighbors,

Seeking to serve with grace

offering a loving hand

Proclaiming the message of peace

of stillness within the Lord,

Comfort in the storms of life

a life everlasting

Is Your Joy Apparent

Do you shine in your speech
do they hear angels singing
is there love in your heart
is your joy apparent

Are you a messenger
of God’s love revealed
are you joyfully sharing
that you have been healed

Do they know you are saved
that you have been reborn
restored from the death
of our choices in life

That through the sacrifice of one
all of us have been redeemed
that Christ died for them
the same as you and me

Is your joy apparent
your cup overflowing
filled with God’s love
your cup overflowing

Our Cups Overflow

Do they know you are a Christian
is there joy in your heart
does your demeanor announce
you have a new start

Do we wander in our days
mired in the mud
do we shout for joy
for what Jesus has done

Our cups overflowing
far more than half-full
we should be shining
like the full moon

Reflecting our Savior
for the joy we believe
saved from our sin
that we may live once again

Telling Our Story

Do we stand brightly
shining like the sun
sharing our joy richly
what God has done
Do we wear our salvation
the joy in our hearts
do we share richly
do we do our part

Do we hide Christ’s message
under a cloak of cares
do we wear God richly
going everywhere
With us on this journey
everywhere we go
we should share our story richly
with everyone we know

Harkened to Your Call

Listening to your spirit
speaking to me from within
harkened to your call, oh Lord
that I may do your work

Submitting myself to you
pouring myself out
emptied for your filling
that I may be poured out

Going forward, into the world
guided by your vision
leading me into my dream
a servant to your calling
a messenger of your love

Walking My Dreams

In each step forward
acting out my faith
going further
walking my dreams

One more step
a victory
walking in the way
following my brother
every single day

Trying more and more
to heed the spirit’s call
going where I am led
answering my father’s call

Here, I am, send me
ever to do your work
using the gifts given to me
to spread your message of love

Feet to My Dreams

Giving feet to my dreams
the desires of my heart
hearing the small voice speaking
a message of love for me

Loading my jar with seeds
there is ever enough
spreading his message
feeling the outpouring of love

Always replenished
never running out
even my I struggle

Not just in the morning
walking across the grass
getting my feet wet
going where I am called

Standing on the water
following the lord
going where I am called
where he would lead

Taking a chance on my dreams
my hope in the lord
seeking that higher road
leading me closer to God

Steps on the Way

Sometimes the path not well marked
sometimes I don’t want to venture out
too comfortable where I sit
in this place and time

The road not taken,
out there beyond the horizon
too often where our dreams live
an unexplored territory

Needing to heed the call
to follow, follow me
to go where the spirit leads
leaving our past behind

Steps on the way
sometimes small, tentative
but each one important
as long as we are following Him

Even in my disquiet
not always certain
the paths diverging, converging
merging in me
walking on the way
the path I see before me
choosing the steps
with the guiding of you
your spirit leading
me up over the gunnels
the boat left behind
the water wet on my feet

The Banner of Freedom

The colors of our country
how proudly they wave
so much sacrifice
the price to this day

Our nation’s ideals
for this it stands tall
that we would remember
the cost of freedom’s call

Raising the Colors

Running to court, a quick filing
before racing to the office,
a swallow of coffee, gathering papers
another hearing, another court
Between these, the motion of the day
Stopping, pausing, watching
standing still, reverent
the raising of the colors
a moment of reflection
caught in the bright morning sun
time standing still
grateful for where I stand

How we walk in this life
the road we are upon
how we approach the world
how we carry on

Our choice
to be happy or sad
to climb the mountain
or stand in sinking sand

Our life a reflection
of what we truly believe
seen by how we walk
for all the world to see

a place in paradise

Using the firewood
not stored for another season
the fire burning now
not letting it die out

More to share
in each season
the words of hope

naming the objective
actively striving
walking on the way

leading others to him

before some others
