The crushing truth, the indictment, the judgment
the fall of Jerusalem, before the great I Am
the people forgetting, ignoring his commandments
turning to other gods, made by human hands
The prophet shouting, a relentless message
turn to the Lord, to the ancient of days
that we would be faithful
conformed to his covenant
the commands of God
all of our days

Conform to his law
Each of our hearts
the treasure of God
that we would change our ways
our hearts to him
conform to his law
all of our days
Not in empty words
falling to our knees
reciting text
others wrote for us
speaking with our hearts
with the substance of our days
looking to his law to guide our ways

His holy word
His holy word
guiding our steps
that we may walk in His ways
that the word of God
would lead us on
all the days of our lives
Mindful of his calling
his commands on our hearts
telling the whole world
of his love for us

Walk in His Ways
Not in empty motion
in hollow rituals
God wants faithfulness
fealty from his people
Walk in His ways
his commandments written
engraved on our hearts
leading our steps
Conform to his law
not the empty rituals
live before him
by his holy word

Forsaken the Lord
Like a prostitute her husband
the indictment of the people
that they had forsaken the Lord
following other gods
The judgment ripe
the coming fire
only a remnant to be saved
buried in the ground

Worthless Idols
When we turn away
when we wander in ourselves
when we turn from God
like the people of old
Worthless idols
of wood, of clay
of metal that rusts
all will fade away
Such a choice
to turn from eternal glory
to trust in the work of human hands
instead of almighty God

The Judgment We Reap
The judgment we reap
now as back then
forsaking the Lord
no awe in him
False idols of this age
to these do we cleave
rejecting the fear of the Lord
trusting in man instead
No love for our neighbor
competition, climbing
up onto the backs of our brother
seeking the brass ring
Climb his mountain
into the holy courts
humbly before the cross
praising almighty God

Broken Cisterns
Trusting in ourselves
turning from the Lord
following false gods
evil on the earth
Broken cisterns
holding putrid bile
rejecting living waters
the well of eternal life
Turn from the world
return to almighty God
all who call his name
ye may enter in

Focused on the Almighty
Stripped of everything
even his children
Job remaining joyful
because he still knew God
Focused on the almighty
his hope and his provision
remembering to praise him
in the middle of the storm
Close to the creator
our father, our savior
more important
than anything on earth
