Sowing Seeds of Deception – v5

Into the soil of our doubts, or fears,
sowing seeds of deception
in patterns of behavior,
in the shifting sands of numbers,
ever moving beneath our feet

Changing the truths, the facts,
something which should be immutable;
new information coming
beyond the last hour
new seeds in the dust

Interpretations written, conveyed,
seeking different understanding;
nothing known generally
the still public unawares
that which is written on shifting sands

Raising concerns within us,
a history of doubt growing, fears,
whether there is thought in these
or if innocence prevails;
some frustrations almost palpable

the arc of the fox’s door – v2

more than ten years now
the face of the red fox,
the mother watching her den,
her babies nestled in
weathered boards of the barn exposed
that gnawed spot, what was undone
the sharp edges of the human hands
a hole where they had been none

the arc of the shape
the dome of the doorway
where the floor and wall once met
opened for the fox’s den
the entryway of their home
there where man had not been
long since used for the field, the harvest
the ancient barn long fallow
giving a home for the foxes.

Eyes of the Predator

Covered in snow
the head of the fox
still in the shower
gathering the snow

Its eyes transfixed
focused on one spot
the prey too close
it was ready to pounce
