Like a sea of glass, glowing with fire

Like a sea of glass, glowing with fire

Pulling into the overlook

the spot I cleave to, returning,

more alive in this moment,

capturing an image, the landscape

seeing the fields ablaze, golden,

something like a sea of glass, of crystal,

glowing with fire, aflame, a liquid,

spreading westward before me

gold laid before the mountain, Katahdin,

shining as before the throne of God.

Feeling something like Isaiah

standing in the courts of heaven

feeling something was special, awe,

overwhelmed, blessed in this moment

knowing these minutes were special

wanting to stay, to linger, to drink,

a time set apart, made perfect, holy,

holding on before sunset, melting,

bronze, golden color, this view

gifted to me by our God.

Drinking in this vision, this scene,

the planes of the landscape,

conjuring an image from scripture

pouring this moment into my spirit

to plant it deeply within me,

knowing the moment was fleeting,

tasting the love, the power,

a sea of glass, of liquid crystal,

glowing with fire, ablaze,

stretching toward eternity.
