capturing bits of gossamer – v7

Capturing bits of gossamer
lightning, magic in a bottle
scribbling lines of ether, breath,
strings of creation, eternity,
sharing mysteries of life, of faith;
writing down images, memory,
hope, joy, streaming, present,
conjured from the wind…
 
Beauty all around us,
Poetry Where You Live…
 
Capturing something unseen,
invisible, or neglected, present,
a germ, a seed of the eternal,
of creation, the cosmos above us,
of the heart of the living God;
beauty in God’s written Word,
planted deep within us, anchored,
in nature all around us now….
 
Love surrounds us,
Poetry Where You Live….

I do not hold the words too tightly – v3

I do not hold the words too tightly,
bits of eternity, of God’s promise,
finding their way onto my keyboard,
my fingers taking flight, soaring,
like on eagles’ wings descending,
brushing the face of the earth…
 
I do not hold the words too tightly,
a treasure of the infinite, of God,
bits of gossamer, of whimsy,
captured from the ether, the mystery,
held in the fowler's net, banded,
released just as quickly into the air ...
 
I do not hold the words too tightly,
the mystery of creation, whispered,
because they are never truly mine;
I am the vessel, the amanuensis,
to gather the words from the ether
to give God’s breath eternal life...

We are drawn to her

We know her, don’t we
if not her, so many others,
so many who have come before,
who have come before the mirror,
the camera, who have fought back tears,
Who have struggled to gain their composure…
 
We see her, we know her, we all aspire to be her,
defiant in resolve, in purpose, regaining, reclaiming,
her dignity, her composure, her power over, peace,
to the enormity, agony of what she is facing, present,
this moment in her life, her sorrow, anguish, painful,
Not ceding this space, not empowering sorrow…
 
She was struggling to breathe, her composure,
before the camera, a mirror, breathing,
calming, stilling herself, resolving,
to defeat the demons crying,
like so many I have known,
We know, don’t we…

She stood before the camera – v2

Regaining her composure an effort,
but not shrinking from the camera,
Chronicler, the Voyeur,
Silent but soon to speak,
preparing, getting herself ready
a flaring of her nostrils,
quick motion brushing,
tears that would not be silenced,
resolve in the face of this woman,
like so many clients I have known…
 
After the latest attack,
his hands upon her,
her video starting in silence,
pulling herself together
to recorder her manifesto
not shrinking from the camera,
it was her partner, her voice,
her silent witness to her resolve,
that she would rise from the ashes,
that she and her children would be safe…
 
We need to honor her spirit,
to stand with her in this moment,
to acknowledge the hope within her,
giving her time,
standing resolute,
even amid her pain,
standing her ground,
staring into the camera
regaining power somehow
when she was ready to speak...

She stood before the camera

Regaining her composure an effort,

The chronicler, the voyeur,

Silent but soon to speak,

a flaring of her nostrils,

quick motion clearing,

tears that would not be silenced,

resolve in the face of this woman,

like so many clients I have known…

 

We need to honor her spirit,

giving her time,

standing resolute,

even amid her pain,

standing her ground,

staring into the camera

a phoenix will rise – v2

a phoenix will rise, triumphant,
from these ashes, from our tears
too many prayers have been lifted,
for them to have been in vain,
new life will rise again…
 
a phoenix will rise, triumphant,
a way will be found, forward,
from these ashes, our tears,
there will be streams in the desert,
new life will rise again…

Resolute in her defiance – v3

She stared straight at the camera,
resolute in her defiance, certain,
she would not let a cancer diagnosis,
define her, her life, her path, her hopes,
it wouldn’t limit her dreams, her happiness,
her choices, the next steps she would take...
 
Watching her wipe her tears, her fears,
pushing her auburn hair off her face,
the chapped lips worried, pursed,
speaking to her waiting, her anxiety,
before the awful verdict, the sentence,
pain, staring at the lens before her…
 
She was scared, terrified, really,
crying, shaken, devastated,
as if in an abusive relationship,
but she was strong, defiant,
ready for what came next,
for whatever it would take...
 
Ten years later, watching this video,
that awful moment, her crying, defiant,
the cancer long in remission,
two children later, that future,
that she had always dreamed of,
what she had made come to pass...

Open and inviting,
calling me to reach, to pick,
crimson stain on my fingers,
ripe berry past my lips…
 
August fruit, inviting,
ripe summer fruit
enticing me again

our quest continues – v2

So far from our homes
from family, friends, our kingdom,
continuing into the unknown
all these many months,
farther, further, onward,
our quest continues,
into the crystal forest
a tunnel of blue, so cold,
swirling daggers of ice, sharp edges,
but a light in the distance
calls us onward, forward,
for our journey, the quest;
Look, our prize is at hand…

Up over the gardens – v3

Rising on legs renewed,
Soaring on new-found wings,
leaving the ground behind me,
seeing the world differently,
unbound from the earthly coil,
a new vantage point…
 
My vision rising, carried aloft,
Up over the gardens, above
the promenade, the portico,
rising above the stairs, the statues,
up over the castle’s rooftops,
to the sky, the heavens, the heights…
 
Arched doorways, arched windows,
Experiencing the grandeur, royalty,
from a new perspective, our vision
sensing more deeply history, majesty,
gravitas, raw power of another age
captured in this place...
 
Soaring over the lands, the kingdom,
The vineyards and the fertile fields,
long-forgotten tales, the woods,
spread out before me, a vista,
a landscape I long remembered,
out to the horizon line…
