I had never stopped like this
time
stopping to see the beauty
wonder of the raspberries
before tasting the first one
thrown in the package
red living goblets
of juice, of nectar
some overturned, on their
side
dark liquid joy
no base, no stem
red living goblets
filled with life, with love
soft, swollen raspberry cups
some overripe, fragile,
crushed by my fingers
no matter how gentle my
touch
picked from the package
ever so gently
raised to my lips
cups of longing, of juice
red raspberries giving
supple living goblets
offering themselves
to my hungry, open mouth
