Resolute in her defiance - v2

She stared straight at the camera,
resolute in her defiance, certain,
she would not let a cancer diagnosis,
define her, her life, her path,
it wouldn’t limit her dreams, her hopes,
her choices, the next steps she would take...
 
She was scared, terrified,
crying, shaken, devastated,
as if in an abusive relationship,
but she was strong, defiant,
ready for what came next,
for whatever it would take...
 
Ten years later, watching this video,
that awful moment, her crying, defiant,
the cancer long in remission,
two children later, a future,
what she had always dreamed of,
what she had made come to pass...
