Stealing the Breath of God

We conspired with all of them,
our silence, our sin, our rebellion,
taking life from my Creator,
the body of the living Jesus,
Nailed to my cross, the tree,
held there until he couldn’t breathe,
Stealing the Breath of God,
the one thing that makes us human,
Rising from the dust, the earth…
