the artistry of the veil,
the needle work of the
spider
giving her gaze a new focus
staring down into the face
of Jesus
ensnared in strings of
gossamer
obscuring the body of Christ
her child in her arms
in the words of the spider
spoken in the lines that she
drew
painted on her face
upon our sacrificed Savior
the visage of sadness set
off
framed, ensnared,
in the strings of gossamer
