these words of the king
me, my, I, ownership,
creation
claiming the kingdom, the
land
as something he alone
created
imagining in reading these
words
seeing God as Zeus, in
judgment
about to see the lightning
bolts
to rain down from heaven
seeing the powerful, the
human,
about to get his comeuppance
how easy the trap to see
ourselves
as creators, as powerful
to diminish the distance to
God
thinking we are more than we
are
believing the lies of our
current age
copyrighting the genome
as if we created, as if we
are gods
we must be careful, each of
us,
not to claim too much
that which we never created
denying the hand of God
that He is all-powerful
that God can appoint anyone
God can put rocks on the
throne
don’t claim too much. . .
or God might strike you down
