We lift up this week
our precious land, of our nation,
our Independence Day
when we shook off the shackles
of foreign rule.
We pray for our country,
for those who love her
for all who protect her,
guarding the dream of America
out in the world.
We lift up those standing guard
in the dark places of this world
so that we may remain free
a light of liberty, and
the hope to the nations.
We pray for our nation
for the warring factions
Democrats, Republicans
poles apart and all
those in the middle
May we be faithful
to those who before us
fought and died
may we honor
the dream that we share
A world, a nation
better than we found her
lifting up our neighbors
the hope in our freedom
for all mankind
One nation together
a melting pot, a quilt,
a blending of other peoples
together stronger
by the binding of our threads
