The Insurrection never stopped – v4

So long as we are silent,

so long as we ignore the crisis,

so long as they deny the Insurrection,

the loss of the election, the Big Lie,

We are still under attack

as a people, as a nation.

 

We are not yet safe,

democracy hangs in the balance,

the idea of America is still at risk,

the enemy is still within.

 

They are still plotting, preparing,

the insurrection continues,

their armies are rallying,

getting their marching orders.

 

The Insurrection never stopped

Its toxic roots were deeply planted -

the Big Lie continues to this day.

 

Life as we have known it is no more

(It may have always been an illusion)

a battle for our country rages.

 

Democracy itself is in peril,

It has already been shaken;

Lives hang in the balance

An enemy within, without

fed by lies, pernicious propaganda.

 

The Insurrection continues unabated,

the lies, fake news, projection, propaganda;

Open sedition never stops truly.

 

Obstruction of justice, complicity,

white supremacy, racial division,

structural inequity, redlining,

Sons of the Confederacy in power

RICO statutes nothing, conspiracy

the fall of Democracy all in play.

 

January 6^th was no aberration;

It is part of a detailed battle plan,

seeds deeply planted, in the South,

throughout this land.

 

The Insurrection was birthed,

in Nixon’s Southern Strategy, earlier,

all the way back to Reconstruction, Jim Crow

the rise of the Klan, its permutations.

 

The Insurrection never ended.

 

We are facing terror, open warfare,

the threat to democracy is real

a live present danger, festering,

metastasized, a grave condition,

fed by gerrymandered districts,

politicians choosing their voters.

 

The Insurrection never stopped,

the battle for our country rages

in back rooms, out in the open.

 

We will not be free, truly,

until Justice rolls down like water,

washing away sedition, treason,

until comity takes its place

in our discourse, our debates,

until Justice is meted out.

 

We cannot be complacent, naive,

believing that all will be right,

that comity will be restored,

without war, strong action.

 

We cannot sleep, complacent,

we must be on the ramparts,

awake in the watch towers;

We must not rest,

we must raise our voices,

until evil has been brought to Justice.

 

Now is the time, the moment,

to stand in the breach, to fight,

for democracy, for Martin’s dream,

for the dream of America itself.
