Streets of their cities run red with blood – v2

Streets of their cities run red with blood,
of the innocents, of too many civilians,
of men, women, and children, the elderly,
Martyrs to our timidity, to our appeasement,
to the awful weapons of Russia’s terror…
 
Too long has the West hesitated, delayed,
to give Ukraine what they have needed,
Now we again put conditions, restrictions,
on how they can use these weapons,
undercutting their right to self-defense…
 
They must be allowed to strike back, now,
to strike the archer, not just catch the arrows,
They must be allowed to fight as we would,
in the face of an existential threat, terror,
that threaten their very existence…
 
Genocide must be stopped, now, this moment,
they must be free to act, freed from terror,
to defend their people, their homeland,
Unafraid of the bully, of escalation,
no red lines, no limits, unfettered,
until Ukraine achieves victory…
