To be forced to look up
a punishment for sin,
for disobedience
to look up at that detestable thing
a snake made of bronze
Humbling the wayward people
complaining in the desert
challenging the will of God
doubting in his provision
a snake, the serpent
which cast man out of the garden
a reminder of the power of God
to these his wayward children
