Something of our nature, our inner selves
humanity breaks the rules,
sinning against authority, the law
failing to be faithful, will over love
from the Garden to now
humanity breaks the rules
rebellion of self
over faith, the law
the love of God, his mercy
forgiveness, faithfulness
over and over, the love of a Father
a loving mother, for children
wayward, learning, willful
breaking rules placed
given for their safety
but something in our nature
struggling with the boundaries
even within freedoms
given by God
