I have walked the ancient streets
the steps of God’s word
slowing my gait to match Christ
to linger with my Savior
I have visited the cross of Calvary
looking up toward Christ’s face
heard his loving word
felt the weight of my sin
I have trod these loving steps
I have longed to follow the Christ
coming up beside him,
or more truly, noticed him already there
God wants us to accept him
aware of the sacrifice of the cross
walking with him to Golgotha
pausing at the foot of the cross
God calls us to walk with him
to accept his offering
Christ taking my sin upon him
to set me free again
