I feel myself turning,
changing in an instant,
fear, anxiety rising,
ready to overflow…
 
A life in words, in work,
now manual labor, sweating,
not knowing if this is my place,
where I should be standing…
 
I sense the rise of panic,
unsure of my next steps,
anxious moments evident,
in the sweat on my forehead…

Fear is the Snake – v3

Fear is the bile, the poison,
the Snake, the Beast, our Enemy,
sapping our joy, love, our peace,
seizing every opportunity, usurping,
attacking every chink in our armor,
denying us our purpose, our calling in life.
 
Death, Satan, the same, certain, stalking,
spewing lies to our spirit, to the world,
following us, silent, watching, present,
when we let down our guard, pouncing,
pulling us under the waters, drowning,
stealing our strength, no air, no breath.
 
Fear is the Snake, the Villian, our Enemy,
despair, fear, loss, conforming,
walking in the pit, in the valley,
so far from our path, the light,
the living waters, our journey,
our calling, our purpose in this life.

He bade the #beast welcome

I wrote these lines without knowing

(how I now wish I had understood)
how true they were in that moment
that a corner had been turned, already,
that there was no coming back.
 
An ancient enemy was called, awakened,
from many years of quiet, of slumber;
He gave the Beast power again,
Calling it forth, by name,
out in our broken world.
 
He bade the Beast welcome,
the dark spirit within him;
He called forth the terror,
The distemper, the fever,
others surely hide.
 
The Beast left a mask upon him
grotesque and garish;
His life was taken over
the Beast now his persona,
his very essence, his Id.
 
Unbound by convention, by law,
societal norms and mores,
He willingly opened Pandora’s Box,
the Beast was loose within him.

Don’t listen to the Snake – v2

Don’t listen to the Darkness, Silence,
within our walls, our rooms, our minds.
Don’t listen to the Snake, the Enemy,
the poison welling up inside, dragging us,
pulling us into the pit, the abyss…
 
Fear is the Bile, the Poison,
the Snake, the Beast, our Enemy,
sapping our joy, love, our peace,
seizing every opportunity, usurping,
attacking every chink in our armor, Pain.
 
Death, Satan, the same, certain, stalking,
following us, silent, watching, present,
when we let down our guard, pouncing,
pulling us under the waters, drowning,
stealing our Strength, no Air, no Breath.
 
Despair, fear, loss, conforming,
wandering in the pit, in the valley,
so far from our path, the Light,
the living waters, our journey,
calling, purpose, our way in this life.
 
Don’t listen to the Snake, the calling,
of Satan, of Fear, run from the Siren’s song.
Cleave to the Light, the Truth, the Hope,
Love abiding within us, our Strength.
Hold onto the promises of God.
