I wish I could say
boldly, with confidence,
that my heart was prepared
my lamp ready
for the return of my master
untroubled by the world
at peace ever in my spirit
anxiously waiting
awake in the night
His coming in secret
when this shall be
in God’s timing alone
unknown to you and me;
we must be faithful
to see eternity
following our savior
work to be done
to prepare for our master
when our work here is done
