The Memories Flooding Back

In each season not diminished
the memories etched forever
imprinted on our hearts
always to be remembered

The memories flooding back
harkened from deep within
the planes, the fireballs
the chaos that would follow

Watching then in real-time
a war nascent, blooming
a decade to follow
the pages slowly turning

An audible gasp, in horror,
as the planes crashed into the towers
as they fell, in clouds of smoke
knowing death reigned inside

Anger, resolve, was our common response
as each person faced terror
alive in our hearts that day,
Never to be forgotten
