The cost of freedom from the beginning
in the snows of Valley
Forge,
the fields of Gettysburg,
the tomb of the USS Arizona,
and the rubble of the Twin
Towers
In the echo of the towers
in the cries of our people
we hear the resolve to stand
together
against all forms of tyranny
One since the beginning
the idea, the dream, of this
nation
freedom for all people
though we struggle to
achieve this
In our humanness, our
frailty,
stubbornly holding onto
power
clouding our judgments
yet holding onto our creed
Our beliefs as a people
still striving onward,
together as one nation
to achieve as a people
the hope of our common dream
