the supple palms drying
falling to the ground
crushed underfoot,
how quickly they burn,
becoming the ashes
returning to dust.
our passion dying
our “Hosannas!”, fading
and Christ’s Passion
His loving sacrifice
present,
not the King triumphant,
but the Lamb on the cross.
