the mirror of the ashes
held up before us
the palms like that week
in Jerusalem
how quickly the crowds
turned
first singing praises, “Hosanna!”,
then calling for judgment
to “Crucify!” our Savior for
blasphemy
the mirror of the ashes
how we denied Christ
singing praises, “Hosannas!”,
then bringing on His
death.
