cloaked in the smoke

cloaked in the smoke
the burning of the palms
wearing the ashes
the reminder of our pain
of our distance from grace
for the cross of Jesus
for the choice He made
redeeming us, of the dust
of the clay, broken people
unable to repay
cloaked in smoke
remembering our rebellion
hosannas when He came
shouts to crucify
