the flames consuming
hungry, satanic
seemingly angry
eating our joy
destroying our praise
bringing on the Passion
the brutalization,
the judgment on Jesus
the flames consuming
eating the palms
ashes only remaining
nothing of Sunday
only the coming darkness
the anger of the flames
when we denied Jesus
when we crucified God
