ashes of that fire
marking our hearts
our heads bearing witness
to the claim on our lives
but the ashes remaining
the ruts of our rebellion
constant reminders
of how little has changed
claiming Jesus, our
Savior
but following the world
not turning, not changing
not following the way
the life, the promise
denying the way of the
cross
