my cracks are evident – v4

I am a broken vessel,
my body is damaged,
my spirit is weighed down,
by many tears, by many years;
Only by Jesus, by His grace,
am I able to hold water.
 
I am made worthy,
though my scars are visible
I have cracks in my vessel,
water would be leaking,
but for Jesus filling the cracks;
My sins are forgiven.
 
The scars still remain,
my past is still written,
my clay is cracked,
where I have sinned,
where I have disobeyed God;
But I am redeemed...

threads of sin,

strands of evil,

of my past, my life,

still woven in the fabric

hard to cut out, to excise,

like the tares from the wheat

melted, joined

part of my body

my struggle day to day

to be more faithful

threads of my past

strands of evil

in the blood, in the flesh,

smeared on my clay

inside of me, scar tissue;

still part of my body

though I have been washed

cleaned of my sin

once and for all

threads of my past

strands of evil

living within me

now I am found – v4

still broken in my flesh

in my journey, this walk;

but I was dead because of sin

lost because of my rebellion

walking away from God;

now I am found

in the arms of Jesus

yet I still struggle in my flesh

saved by His sacrifice

His love that redeems us;

I have life in my Savior

in the gift of grace;

love enough to save me

though I am still broken

the demons still crying

still struggling in my flesh

in the pit of my sin

my rebellion complete;

I was dead, lost in the world,

my excess extreme

You found me there

in the pit, my despair;

You raised me up

tears on my face

You gave me a gift

of the Son, now with me

I am a sheep, a follower,

giving my life over

Yet I hold the reins

wanting to be with You

but fighting the yoke;

I am I alive, now,

walking this path
