Seemingly despair
yet the beginning of a prayer
an ancient psalm
known to all these people
Jesus cried out, plaintive,
hanging in pain,
yet seeking God, calling
that He would hear his prayer
Comfort even in dying
seemingly feeling abandoned
yet faithful to his people
reminding them of God’s love
The words of the psalm being lived out
the verses row by row
God had not forsaken him
for he loves us so
