He could no longer watch
the Son on the cross
paying our awful costs
Darkness fell over Jerusalem
a judgment upon us
the living Son of God
covered in our shroud, our shame
The world became dark
the sun refused to shine
Christ breathed his last
to enter your kingdom
returning home again
The curtain of the Temple
torn by great force, ripped
no need for sacrifice
the debt fully paid
Returning to the Father
to Him his Spirit given
safety in his father’s arms
in the highest heaven
