a king that would free them

They were lost, without a head
leaderless, following false shepherds
a subjugated people
under the boot of Rome
They were seeking a king
a king that would free them
yet they were only thinking about the earthly
not of that of heaven above
This was their King before them
the Messiah long foretold
come to teach them about the Creator
the nature of God’s love
This was their King eternal
the living God before them
sacrificing himself to set them free
on the altar of the cross
