the silent witnesses

their fruit anointing

pouring out, a blessing

the lamps, the kingdoms

the olive tree sentries

watching the holy family

their journey to Bethlehem

the trees standing there

bearing the fruit

the olives, the oil,

the olive trees of the valley

there at the beginning

silent witnesses, sentries

to the holy family’s journey
