human sacrifice – v2

Christ down from heaven

the Paschal lamb, the altar to God

the rugged cross, the stone-cold tomb

becoming our human sacrifice

what tears there must have been in heaven

God on trial, accused of blasphemy

God on the cross, our atoning sacrifice

our sins upon him, giving himself

to redeem the lost, the least

sinners while yet sinning

the one final human sacrifice

this choice of the Christ

dying, rising from the cold tomb

to raise the dead, to give us life
