Rest Under His Yoke – v3

Christ offers us peace, rest
Rest from the burdens, the heavy loads
of life, of our day to day, our lives cluttered
filled by the urgent, not the important
the stones we carry, not from God

Rest from the struggles, in the grace of simplicity
sitting at the feet of Jesus, hearing His message
the discipline of letting go, of setting down
the unnecessary load, of picking up the yoke of Christ
the yoke that is light, from our God

Rest under His yoke, sharing the journey with our Savior
walking in His presence, in His light, transformed
on the Road to Emmaus, on the road home,
released of the loads, the burdens we have carried
the stones we have picked up, not from God

Rest for the journey, focused, our eyes on Him,
looking up into his face, seated at His feet
our heart, our faces, set for Jerusalem, to His destiny
understanding more fully, perhaps, the words of the Master
what we are meant to hear, if we will listen

Rest for today, for tomorrow, lives ordered by the rocks,
by the important things of our walk, our days
eating of the bread, of the living water,
not the sand of the urgent, the busyness of our lives
Rest in our Lord, under his yoke, together
