before the darkness
before the spiral
down, down, falling
out of control
before the darkness
this place, sanctuary
life in that memory
in that hope for tomorrow
before
the darkness
light,
something to hold onto,
the
light still there
even
when we are in darkness
before
the darkness
hope,
promise
in
this sacred space
something
to remember
when
the darkness finds us
