In Memoriam – v3

We remember our heroes
buried in hallowed ground
what they have done
serving in our place
going where we
would not choose to go
Giving their lives
that evil would be checked
our world a safer place
that we would remain free

They have left a legacy
of love for us all
for our beliefs, for freedom,
In their sacrifice
we have so much
to be thankful,
Because we are blessed
by their courage
and their loyalty
to this land we love so well

We must remember them
and honor their place
in our nation’s story
we must remember
the people who have served
buried under these stones
silent heroes of our past
whose children guard us still
wearing still the uniforms
of this country we all love
