Jots

Seeing
some words crossed out
Others
inserted, added
How
does editing sound;
Illegible
words, random thoughts
Scratching
out the rhyme
Fighting
the meter.
The
lines through the jetsam
The
flotsam of thought
Like
the word balloons
In
the Batman TV show
Words
of motion, of precision
Snapping
to attention
Coming
into being
On
the printed page.
Erasures
like sandpaper
Maybe
a planer,
Milling
raw oak into boards;
Fighting
the knots in my prose
To
see the grain embedded within
Seeking
to capture a moment
To
conjure an image
On
the written page.
