Someone like David

Their image of a Messiah

of the King foretold in scripture

someone like David

who would overthrow the Romans

their oppressors, their masters

Someone like David

who would bring forth the kingdom

God’s rule here on earth

God’s kingdom come.

Someone like David,

but that wasn’t Jesus

Christ, our risen Lord and Savior

riding on a donkey, a colt,

entering Jerusalem.
