Joy in the birdsong

Joy in the birdsong
cardinals, the blue jays,
mockingbirds up in the trees,
the wrens by the ground…
 
Joy in being able to hear them,
A part of my life that was missing,
The cooing of the mourning doves,
As I venture outside…
