We pray for our nation – v5

We lift up today, each day
our precious land, of our nation,
on our Independence Day
when we shook off Britain’s shackles.

We pray for our country,
for those who love her
for all who protect her,
guarding the dream of this nation

We lift up those standing guard
in the dark places of this world
so that we may remain free
may we be a hope to the nations.

We pray for our nation
for the warring factions
Democrats, Republicans
all those caught in the middle

May we be faithful, truly,
to those who came before us
may we honor, be true
to the dream that we share

A world, a nation, hopefully
better than we found her
lifting up our neighbors
a hope within our freedom

One nation together
a blending of other peoples
together stronger, united,
by the binding of our threads

A prayer for our nation
still under fire, tested,
may we be better, more just,
for the dream to be fulfilled
