someone pisses on our joy – v5

Someone pisses on our joy
challenging us, chiding us
something they decide
to take offense at, robbing us of
on our zeal for real worship;
Someone tried to quench, to extinguish
God’s fire within us.

We get mad, we get angry,
when this happens;
We want to join them
down in the muck, the mire
to answer in equal measure
to tell them how we feel
when they pissed on our joy,
our zeal for real worship.

Don’t let them bait you, quench
don’t let them steal the joy
the power you feel within you;
Don’t let them blow out the Spirit
the fire of God within you;
Come, return, now
to your first love,
to our Savior, to Christ.

The love of God is still with us,
even in the storms, in the darkness
when someone pisses on our joy;
The Savior is always watching over us;
The Spirit is still breathing,
beating within each of our hearts;
God is our one hope forever,
our one love over all.
