I hear Taras’ whisper to me… - v2

I keep hearing his name,
Taras Shevchenko, the Bard of Ukraine,
in my mind, in my vision,
I hear Taras’ whisper to me,
I don’t know yet what he is saying,
but I will figure it out…
 
I feel a pull of his presence, his words,
his sorrow for his people, their struggle,
echoing deep within me, in the same way
I felt in the room where Burns was born,
somehow, I feel him calling to me, yes,
as I support his homeland, Ukraine…
 
Somehow, I sense Bulgakov and Gogol,
want to gather into our conversation,
something of the truth of Russia, its ethos,
to understand more fully this conflict,
the nations, the passions flowing,
more than what I read each day…
 
I hear Taras’ whisper to me,
In words I do not yet comprehend,
I long to know, to understand,
how I can use my words to support,
to aid, to heal his homeland,
his love, his blessed Ukraine…
