the doves and the pigeons – v7

We see Jesus’ outrage
His demanding of justice
of restoring the Temple
to a House of God

He did not stop the whole business
the whole church enterprise
the bankers the merchants
in the Temple gates

He focused on the dove and the pigeons
the offerings bought
often with pain, with anguish
from the least, the lost of the nation

His anger was focused
on the imbalance of power
on the gatekeepers of access
of entry for the poor

Jews wanted all
to be able to worship
for all to enter in
to worship our God
