A Gospel Mandate

A gospel mandate
not a suggestion
we must not be complacent
we must stand with our neighbors
We too long in comfort
silent at injustice
overturning the tables
speaking out against power
the imbalance of our age
of the haves and have-nots
more of the latter
in focusing on what we’ve got
self-centered, an orgy of greed
taking what we can
not merely what we need
