Parsley

not Dunkin Donuts,
no, not Friendly’s
HOJO’s,
back when we were children
a family dinner out
from the kid’s menu
served quickly
parsley on his plate
from around the table
The bitter herb his passion
eaten quickly
happy to give them
not of my palate
later maybe different
but not back then
