an ache deep within me
staring at my pain
my sin, my brokenness,
wandering in the wilderness,
lost, far from God…
 
quarrying deep within me
the depth of my hurt
the way sin has hurt me
how I have sinned in my flesh,
how I have got in the way…
 
confessing my estrangement
my turning from God
creating of me an idol
worshiping my wants
not letting God get in the way…
 
now, the battle turns,
on the essential,
“Will I turn from the flesh,
Will I turn my life, my will,
My all unto God…”
