I did not believe You #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #sin #confession #repentance

This promise of holy scripture
this ancient word of protection
words I know deeply, richly,
for You have been present with me
in the pit, on the mountaintops…
 
But deep within my spirit,
from when I was a young boy,
an ache, a pain I carry
that defines my life’s choices
my path of brokenness…
 
I did not believe You, Lord,
I felt lost, forsaken,
I did not feel You with me
protecting me when I needed You
when I was attacked…
 
I now believe the ancient words,
but, chains, pain has cost me greatly,
all of my sin, my bad choices,
rooted in the lie that You left me
alone in my brokenness…
