how could I choose any other path – v3

taking in this worship, this act of faithfulness,
breathing in this question of Mary
what she must have been thinking
standing, trembling, in awe,
before Gabriel, the angel of God
“how could I choose any other path?”,
than submission, than praise,
giving my life over for the glory of God.
A child of David, herself,
of the royal line,
gifted, blessed, to raise a Son
choosing the only path
she saw for herself
submitting her life to God,
singing the Magnificat
